LINGUA FRANCA offers English language courses in Riga and online via Microsoft Teams for all levels, from complete Beginners to Advanced students. Students can choose to attend classes in person at our premises in Riga or online, depending on their preferences and schedule.
Our courses are taught by highly professional, qualified native English-speaking teachers from the USA and UK. Whether you want to improve your everyday English, develop your speaking skills, strengthen your grammar or progress to a higher level, our English courses provide a practical and supportive learning environment.
English Course Details
- Levels: Beginner to Advanced
- Course Length: 40 actual hours / 54 academic hours
- Number of Lessons: 27
- Class Length: 1.5 hours / 2 academic hours
- Class Frequency: Twice a week
- Days: Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday
- Class Times: 17:15–18:45, 17:30–19:00 or 19:00–20:30
- Format: In-person at our Riga premises or online via Microsoft Teams
- Placement Test: Approximately 45 minutes
Before joining a course, students complete a short English language level assessment test. The test takes approximately 45 minutes and allows us to determine your current level and recommend the most suitable group.
Evening English Courses
Our evening English courses are designed for adults who want to improve their English while working or managing other daytime commitments.
Classes are available at our premises in Riga or online via Microsoft Teams, giving students the flexibility to choose the learning format that works best for them.
Each standard English course consists of 27 lessons, with each lesson lasting 1.5 hours. Classes take place twice a week, either on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Students can choose from several convenient evening schedules:
- 17:15–18:45
- 17:30–19:00
- 19:00–20:30
Each course is supported by a carefully selected course book appropriate to the students’ level. However, our teaching philosophy goes beyond the textbook.
We believe that grammar is best learned through communication. For this reason, every English course is supplemented with communication activities, games and practical exercises that give students plenty of opportunities to use English in a positive, relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

This progression allows students to continue developing their English skills systematically and move on to the next level after successfully completing their current course.
What Do Our English Courses Cover?
Our English language courses develop all four key language skills:
- Reading
- Listening
- Speaking
- Writing
Although all four skills are covered, we place particular emphasis on speaking and listening. Our goal is to give students the confidence and practical ability to communicate effectively in English.
Writing assignments are generally provided as homework. Students receive individual feedback from their teacher, allowing them to identify and improve areas that require additional attention.
English Course Exams and Certificates
At the end of each English course, students take an exam based on the material covered during the course.
Students who successfully complete the exam receive a LINGUA FRANCA certificate and can continue their studies at the next English language level.
This structured approach allows students to measure their progress and continue developing their English skills step by step.
Intensive English Courses in Riga and Online
For students who want to make faster progress, LINGUA FRANCA also offers intensive English language courses.
Intensive courses can be offered in person at our Riga premises or online via Microsoft Teams, depending on the course and group arrangement.
Each intensive course consists of:
- 25 lessons
- 3 hours per lesson
- 5 days per week
- 25 working days in total
- 100 academic hours
As with our standard courses, intensive English courses use carefully selected course books and are supplemented with communication activities, games and practical exercises.
Our approach combines grammar instruction with communication, giving students frequent opportunities to speak and use English in class in a positive and relaxed environment.
